Northend United 7 Lisdrum Youth 0 Saturday 5th November 2022
Another solid performance from the 2011 panel to stay at the top of the league. The team started off on the back foot with pressure being put on the Lisdrum side from the whistle. A superb left foot kick from Jayden Cassley left the keeper with no chance after 6 minutes and this trend of possession football continued through a dominant midfield, led by captain Sonny Barr who had a fantastic game. When Lisdrum did get a ball through they didn’t get a shot off due to the back line trio of Jonah Mitchell, Harry Campbell and Thomas Cairns, Joe Duffin was solid between the sticks for the first half as usual.
With wingers Tiernan Martin and Olly Hector pushing from the sides and the high pressing from Cahal Gordon with Jayden just behind meant a further 2 goals in the first half from Tiernan & Sonny, both excellent finishes. Half time 3-0
Changes in the left and right back letting Lilly Adams and Harry McAuley show their stuff still allowed the side comfortably to control proceedings. Joe Duffin’s outfield intro further strengthened the midfield at the start of the second half and with Phelim Devlin swooped as GK it shows we have two of the best keepers in the league. More goals followed for Northend from a awesome run from Young Gordon side stepping a defender to unleash a unstoppable shot into the bottom corner. Further goals from Tiernan and Jayden followed even though the Lisdrum side had a extra player allowed on due to the score line. Overall performance showed the team has improved so much together this season and possibly could be ready for a bigger challenge to really test them. Full time 7-0
Player of the Match: Sonny Barr is dominate midfield performance really stood out today.
